GuideStar attends Fall 2025 anesthesia conferences | October 21, 2025

Victoria, BC – GuideStar Medical Devices (GuideStar) VP Business Development Ryan Ruedebusch has been on an extended road trip to kick off Fall 2025, filled with customer visits and important conferences. Anesthesia-focused conferences are essential for meeting new anesthesia professionals, and maintaining relationships with existing users. A brief description of each conference is provided below, as well as some exciting developments.

Kentucky Association of Nurse Anesthetists (KyANA) Fall Meeting

September 19-21, 2025

Lexington, KY

GuideStar was invited to attend this conference by outgoing KyANA President Cody Plank. The conference hosted approximately 300 CRNAs based in Kentucky, with experience levels ranging from students to decades of anesthesia practice. This conference was particularly rewarding for GuideStar, as many attendees expressed interest in trialing EpiZact, leading Ryan to extend his trip in Kentucky to facilitate these site visits. One particularly exciting visit was with Cheryl Parker (KyANA president-elect), who is planning new ways to incorporate EpiZact into a Kentucky-based CRNA program’s curriculum. We look forward to returning to Kentucky to continue evaluations throughout the fall, and attending the KyANA conference next year!

Spinal/Epidural with Obstetric Essentials Workshop

September 27-28, 2025

Cincinnati, OH

GuideStar was also invited to attend the Spinal/Epidural with Obstetric Essentials Workshop at the University of Cincinnati by AANA. This is GuideStar’s second time attending the event; due to its popularity its frequency has been increased to twice a year. The event offers continuing education credits to CRNAs who are looking to review skills related to epidurals, spinals and OB-related anesthesia practice. GuideStar was happy to continue supporting this event, and to introduce CRNAs at the workshop to EpiZact. This event is a perfect fit for EpiZact, as it is learning-focused, and EpiZact is a novel tool that many CRNAs have been choosing to add to their repertoire.

Western Summit for Nurse Anesthesiology

October 3-5, 2025

Las Vegas, NV

GuideStar was happy to exhibit at the Western Summit for Nurse Anesthesiology in Las Vegas. The event hosted approximately 700 CRNAs and anesthesia assistants, largely based in western USA.  Many attendees stopped by the GuideStar booth, and were very impressed by EpiZact’s performance when trying it on the simulator. In the coming weeks, GuideStar has several visits planned with contacts made at the event, including hospitals in Washington and Utah. The team looks forward to returning to the event next year!

ASA 2025 Annual Meeting

October 11-13, 2025

San Antonio, TX

As the final conference in a busy start to Fall 2025, Ryan attended the American Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting in San Antonio. This is the largest annual gathering of anesthesia professionals in the USA, with over 12,000 attendees (mostly anesthesiologists) from throughout the world. GuideStar experienced heavy traffic at our booth, with many clinicians of all experience levels wanting to trial EpiZact on our simulator. Ryan noted: "Anesthesiologists were particularly interested to learn how epidurals could be performed more quickly and easily when using EpiZact, and how the device can be integrated into their practice to increase patient safety."

Next, GuideStar looks forward to attending the CCI Anesthesia Leadership Meeting in early November, and continuing to fulfill the many clinical evaluations scheduled for the remainder of 2025!

About EpiZact
Epidurals are performed to provide anesthesia to a patient, by means of injection of medication into the epidural space. Traditionally, epidurals are performed using the “loss of resistance” technique. EpiZact is the first device developed for epidurals that is designed to stop the forward motion of the needle upon sensing a loss of resistance, providing a tactile and visual signal to the user while simultaneously stopping the needle from further advancement, potentially reducing the incidence of accidental dural puncture.

About GuideStar
GuideStar Medical Devices is a medical device company located in Victoria, BC. The Company’s flagship device, EpiZact, was designed with the intent of reducing the incidence of accidental dural punctures during epidural administration. GuideStar is committed to offering innovative solutions to unmet medical needs with a primary goal of enhancing patient safety.
