Victoria, BC – GuideStar Medical Devices CEO and Founder Mike Dolphin exhibited EpiZact at the 58th Annual Meeting of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP), held April 29 to May 3, 2026 at Le Westin Montréal in Montreal, Quebec. SOAP is the leading international forum for obstetric anesthesia, drawing more than 800 clinicians and researchers from over 16 countries.

SOAP is a natural home for EpiZact. Unintentional dural puncture during labour epidurals is the complication EpiZact was designed to prevent, and the SOAP membership includes many of the clinicians and investigators who study it. Booth visitors were able to place a needle on the EpiZact simulator and feel for themselves how precisely and reliably the device arrives at the epidural space.

GuideStar is following up with a number of the centers met in Montreal and expects to schedule clinical evaluations of EpiZact through the balance of 2026.

About EpiZact
Epidurals are performed to provide anesthesia to a patient, by means of injection of medication into the epidural space. Traditionally, epidurals are performed using the “loss of resistance” technique. EpiZact is the first device developed for epidurals that is designed to stop the forward motion of the needle upon sensing a loss of resistance, providing a tactile and visual signal to the user while simultaneously stopping the needle from further advancement, potentially reducing the incidence of accidental dural puncture.
